A combined effort
The „Bundesgartenschau Koblenz 2011 GmbH“, a private limited company launched in 2005, is the nerve centre responsible for the planning, execution and management of the Horticultural Show. This is where design experts and a staff of willing helpers, overseen by a supervisory board, are working together to create the face of the Federal Horticultural Show Koblenz 2011. Partners in the GmbH are the town of Koblenz (two thirds) and the Zentralverband Gartenbau (central horticultural association) (one third). The supervisory board also has the support of two representatives of the Federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate.The three pillars of the organisation are the supervisory board, the members’ assembly and the management of the operating company.
The operating company works in close cooperation with the municipal administration through the specially created local project office.This set-up ensures short decision-making processes together with the necessary degree of transparency. A series of talks, information events, regular citizens’ consultations and working groups during the planning phase provide local residents with the opportunity to contribute ideas and constructive criticism.
